Wn326 Barneville-Carteret
Former radar station site with incredible coastal views
Wn326 site overview
What to see
This prominent headland on the coast overlooking the port town and harbour of Barneville-Carteret on the west Cotentin peninsula features a small lighthouse and was once the location of a radar installation.
Little remains of this small site today, the most obvious structure being a light shelter connected to the north side of the walls surrounding the current lighthouse and semaphore station.
The original site once boasted a FuMO2 Seetakt sea-searching radar system plus and observation post, anti-aircraft gun position, and a defensive machine gun post.
The walks along the headland are magnificent!
