Wn03 Le Havre
Observation post and shelter north of airfield

Wn03 site overview

What to see
On the coast to the north of the Le Havre-Octeville airfield are several small bunker sites, including Wn03 near the village of Le Croquet.
There are only two buildings remaining at Wn03, a Beobachtung observation post and a small, underground personnel shelter which stands directly in front of the obs post and is linked by a short underground tunnel.
The entrances to the shelter can still be seen but are blocked so it can’t be accessed.
The Beobachtung is one of several along this stretch of coastline which would have given early warning to the batteries and airfield sites nearby. Today it stands in an agricultural field and can only be seen when the crops have been harvested.
A square shaped building with ground-level observation, it has an extended front observation post with a protective concrete roof.
The main part of the building has openings on all four sides for 360 degree vision, while the thick, steel reinforced concrete roof is supported by a central, cross-shaped column which also gave extra anti-shrapnel protection for the crew.
