Ca012 Ault

Observation posts overlooking long beaches at edge of estuary

Ca012 Ault site overview

What to see

Ault is a small town between the port of Le Treport to the south and Cayeux-sur-Mer to the north.
It stands near to the Somme estuary with long stretches of beach running to the north and into the mouth of the river and marshland.
This site – Ca012 – overlooked those beaches and featured two Vf Schnabelstands – observation posts with a commanding view over the area.
Once linked with field defences via a series of trenches, the two building are in poor condition. To the south, providing cover to the rear of the site, is a single ringstand for a 5cm KwK anti-tank gun. This stands in the corner of farmland and is overgrown.
