Resistance Memorial

Granville

Location and info

Resistance Memorial, Rue du Roc, 50400 Granville

Located on the most westerly point near the semaphore station at Granville and surrounded by WW2 German bunkers. Small car park nearby.

"Vive la France, Vive la Resistance!"

This superb memorial - in the shape of the French Croix de Lorraine - pays tribute to the soldiers of the Free French forces and the Resistance fighters who fought for their country from June 1940 through to the end of the war in May 1945.
It stands in one of the occupying Germans’ most heavily fortified areas at Granville on the west coast of the Cotentin peninsula in Normandy.
This area has a commanding view and features 12 interlinked strongpoints under the name Stp20. Here you can see a whole range of concrete structures including open gun emplacements, gun casemates, anti aircraft positions, air raid shelters, personnel shelters, MG bunkers, and more.
