Calais Canadian Cemetery
Leubringhen

Location and info
A Commonwealth War Graves Commission site near the village of Leubringhen, around 14km west of Calais, this well-kept cemetery is the final resting place of 704 soldiers from the Second World War.
The majority are from the Canadian First Army who liberated the area in September 1944 and advanced along the coast of northern France and into Belgium as they chased retreating German forces. There are also graves of Royal Canadian Air Force pilots and aircrew.
The site also contains the remains of six Czech and 19 Polish soldiers who were killed while fighting in the area.
Thirty of the burials are of those of soldiers who were unable to be identified but are ‘Known Unto God’.
