This coastal gun position is in direct sight of the southern end of the Utah Beach area and covered the Baie des Veys and to the south the entrance to the Vire River which leads directly to the town of Isigny-sur-Mer.
The largest casemate here is a Doppelschartenstand - a double embrasure bunker which allowed the weapon to fire both north and south along the shoreline while being protected from the front from any attackers moving along the bay area towards the river mouth.
This special construction casemate also has a protected rear entrance and can be accessed easily.

Supporting the casemate was a 1694 Ringstand which was equipped with a 5cm KwK cannon and two Tobruks - one each to the north and south of the main casemate.
