Opposite the famous clock tower and city hall of Calais you can find a beautiful park which hides a dark secret – one of the largest bunkers built in the city.
Created as a HQ and communications centre for the commander of the Calais port defences, this 100m long structure features over 30 different rooms and would have been a busy building to have seen in action.
Today the bunker has become a museum with each room displaying a different aspect of the war with a mixture of models, original equipment, and information boards telling the story from the occupation to liberation.
