Stp132 Ehrenbreitstein
Twin HQ and command bunkers south west of Calais

Stp132 Ehrenbreitstein site overview

What to see
Located in woodland north of the village of Bonningues you can find two R117a type bunkers.
These are some of the largest of the early type personnel buildings constructed on the Atlantikwall and were built as a battalion and regimental headquarters.
These 14 room bunkers included a large commander’s room, officers’ quarters, crew rooms, a telephone exchange, radio room, and a close combat embrasure for defence. On top was a small, armoured steel observation cupola, and both of these remain on the two buildings today.
This is a rare treat as most steel from German bunkers was ripped out after the war and sold for scrap as France looked to rebuild following the occupation.
Both bunkers are heavily overgrown and access into the woods is with permission only.
