Stp T26

HQ and defensive site inland of beachfront positions

Stp T26 site overview

What to see

Situated around 500m behind the extensive beachfront defensive bunker site Stp Nikolaus at Les Hemmes D’Oye, Stp T26 was used as a command centre for the area.
At the heart of the site is a R607 building – a heavy-duty, two room bunker - which was used as a HQ and it surrounded by a mixture of personnel shelters and defensive Tobruks lining the beach exit road the Rue des Salines.
In the fields surrounding the HQ are pairs of buildings either large R501 group shelters with a Torbruk or Vf52a type personnel shelters with a Tobruk just a few yards away.
One of the Tobruks at the bend in the road near to the R607 was designed to support a captured French tank turret and is in good condition, albeit somewhat buried in the field.
Access to the structures at Stp T26 is with permission only as they stand on private farmland used for horses, although most of the bunkers can be still seen from the road.
