Canadians on Juno Beach
Hillside gun batterie overlooking St-Vaast-la-Hogue bay
Wn141 Batterie Morsalines
What to see
From scanning Google Earth mapping you can see the feint outlines of many of the positions here at Wn141 Batterie Morsalines, but now it is mainly covered over by farmland. This area is all on private land so not accessible - plus the first field has some of the largest cattle you've ever seen!
This was once a batterie equipped with field guns and you can see the remains of six open emplacements from overhead mapping, plus several other buildings for the soldiers stationed here including R502 personnel shelters, ammo storage, and a water reservoir.
The easiest building to spot though is a special construction L409 ant--aircraft bunker which housed a 2cm Flak gun on the roof. This building is reported to have originally been built as a searchlight emplacement, but was late adapted for Flak purposes.
