Stp273 Iris
Field gun emplacement site now inside nature park

Stp273 Iris site overview

What to see
Located in the woodland behind the dunes d’Ecault to the south of Equihen-Plage – where there are lots of beach-side concrete bunkers and casemates – this site was an extensive position featuring personnel shelters, defensive bunkers, and open emplacements.
The remains of open emplacements for 7.62cm field guns can be found spread across the site, along with the remains of several Tobruks, two Michelmannstands for heavy machine guns, a barracks building, and around half a dozen shelters and storage bunkers, some for protecting ammunition for the guns.
Most of the site is overgrown, but you can catch glimpses of concrete as you follow the park track around the nature reserve.
Be aware that this area was being heavily used by migrants in Autumn/Winter 2025, so think about your safety and don’t venture off the main tracks.
