Vill022 Villers-sur-Mer

Tobruk and tank wall among beachfront houses

Vill022 site overview

What to see

The expansion of the beautiful seaside resort of Villers-sur-Mer has seen many buildings and bunkers disappear under beachside villas and properties leaving little to be found at some of the former strongpoints along this coast.
If you look carefully though you can see some WW2 defensive structures at Vill022, located almost in the most easterly end of the town’s promenade.
Next to a pop-up café on the beach – and space for playing pétanque – you can see a small concrete Tobruk while in the gardens to the east there are remains of an anti-tank wall.
Two of the sections which can be seen are around eight metres long with a 15 metre section bridging the gap between two beachfront houses. Thank you to the local residents for allowing us to film on their properties.
