Vill02 Deauville
Two small buildings remain from once large complex

Vill02 site overview

What to see
Little remains of Vill02 on the south west side of the port town of Deauville with just two buildings left, both Vf2a personnel shelters.
This area is one of the most popular tourist sites in Normandy and most of the ‘eyesore’ WW2 concrete buildings were removed.
It was once a formidable site though with a line of Tobruks, R604 gun casemates for 7.5cm artillery guns, and open emplacements for 5cm KwK anti-tank guns protecting this western access to the town and port area.
Two observation and machine gun posts were also built here with post-war photographs showing them at either end of a building which is now the changing facilities for beachgoers.
You can find one of the Vf2a bunkers near to the bouncy castle park and the second near the mini golf course.
