MG post and shelter near popular beach

Trou025 Trouville-sur-Mer site overview

What to see
The long sandy beach which runs north east along the coast from the harbour towns of Trouville and Deauville is a popular spot for visitors to Normandy.
But how many of those enjoying the sun, sea, and sand here have realised there are defensive and personnel bunkers located nearby, one overlooking the beach?
The first is the most obvious of two remaining buildings – a concrete and brick constructed machine gun post which stands on the corner of the short promenade and attempts to blend in with the sea wall.
With three embrasures cut into the bunker, the crew inside could cover all directions on the beach.
The rear entrance has been sealed over but you can see through the embrasures that there was a short corridor from the entrance to the main combat room. Sadly, this room has been used as a litter bin and there are piles of rubbish inside.
The second bunker is around 30 metres away and is a twin entrance personnel shelter which is buried within the grounds of a private property so can’t be visited without permission.
