Observation post and gun emplacement overlooking harbour

Trou024 Trouville-sur-Mer site overview

What to see
Just two buildings remain at the Trou024 Trouville-sur-Mer site which sits back from the main town on the higher ground to the south east of the beach.
This lofty location made it the ideal vantage point for its observation bunker which was the fire control post for a field battery nearby – an early-war site for four artillery guns.
No traces of this site remain today as they were likely simple field excavations rather than concrete positions for the 7.62cm calibre horse-drawn guns.
The observation post has recently been obscured from public view form the single track road running past it by privacy fencing as it stands in the grounds of a very grand property and private garden. Only the top of the bunker is now visible.
There is one gun emplacement still to be found though, a concrete ringstand for a 5cm KwK gun, a mass-produced anti-tank gun which featured on early panzers but was later made obsolete as Allied armour improved and given roles on the Atlantikwall defences.
This position is located to protect a crossroads between Chemin du Rocher and Chemin des Fremonts.
