Trou010 Villerville
Underground personnel rooms and tunnel network linking bunkers

Trou010 site overview

What to see
On the eastern and western outskirts of Villerville – a small village between Honfleur and Deauville - you can see evidence of two separate tunnel systems which were cut into the rocky cliffs by occupying German forces.
The tunnel network linked to a series of troop personnel rooms and officer quarters underneath the cliff and defensive buildings on the seafront. All the tunnel entrances are now sealed, but you can catch a glimpse of several of the remaining bunkers and firing positions.
Trou010’s main firepower came from a 7.5cm field gun inside a R612 casemate and a 4.7cm Skoda Fortress gun inside the R631 bunker, both of which are located on the western side of the village and now stand partially buried in a private garden.
On the eastern side of Villerville, the defence came from 5cm KwK anti-tank guns in open emplacements – now incorporated into the promenade – and a field gun inside a R604 bunker.
R604 builds were designed as garages for anti-tank guns and also featured a large crew room and a separate ammunition storage room.
